‘Aladdin”s Prince Anders To Get Spinoff And Fans Aren’t Happy

Disney+ is working on a spinoff of the live-action take on “Aladdin”.

The new show would focus on Prince Anders, played by Billy Magnussen, The Hollywood Reporter learned.

Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme have been brought in to write the script that is still in the planning stages.

Magnussen’s character was only in a handful of scenes as a suitor for Princess Jasmine.

THR reports that the idea for the project came from Magnussen himself, who will star in the James Bond film “No Time To Die” next April.

“Aladdin” brought in over a billion dollars worldwide but many aren’t keen on the spinoff. Mostly because Prince Anders, the only white character in the film, is the one with his own show.

“There’s literally two animated Aladdin sequels and a whole series that could be adapted but nah let’s give a show to the only white guy,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another person added, “I didn’t like Aladdin remake. I don’t even like Mena tbh. But the fact that an unnecessary white character, that played no significant role in the Aladdin movie is getting a spin off, whilst Mena is jobless is telling.”
