The soundtrack to Disney sequel “Frozen II” offers fans a unique musical experience, with the movie’s songs performed by its cast as well as alternate versions of those same songs recorded by an array of musicians, including Panic! At the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer.
On Friday, Weezer debuted the music video for its song from the “Frozen II” soundtrack, “Lost in the Woods”, and the band enlisted the help of a special guest: “Frozen II” star Kristen Bell.
In the video, frontman Rivers Cuomo and the rest of the band wear medieval “Frozen”-style costumes, with Cuomo singing into a hanging pinecone while he’s haunted by images of Bell.
Next up for the band is a guitar-heavy new album slated for a spring 2020 release, tentatively titled Van Weezer.
“What I’ve been working on the last two weeks is back to big guitars. Blue Album-ish, but a little more riffy. The working title is Van Weezer,” Cuomo said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in February.
“The inspiration came from our live shows, where, in the middle of ‘Beverly Hills’, unlike on the album, everything stops and I just break out with this crazy guitar solo,” he added. “We noticed that, recently, the crowd just goes crazy when I do that. So it feels like maybe the audience is ready for some shredding again.”
