At a time when she should be celebrating her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice has had to cancel her engagement party.
The event was to be held on Dec. 18 at Chiltern Firehouse but Beatrice and Mozzi have cancelled in the wake of the scandal surrounding her father Prince Andrew fearing that paparazzi would take over.
According to US Weekly, the couple will be hosting their friends and family at a friend’s apartment instead.
“Bea has had to change the date of her engagement party at the Chiltern Firehouse because of fears there will be too many photographers outside – looking for him [Prince Andrew],” an insider told the Mail on Sunday.“But the venue choice caused alarm among pals concerned it was far too high-profile given the sensitive time her family is going through.”
Prince Andrew stepped back from public royal life on Nov. 20 after his disastrous BBC interview. During the interview, the eighth-in-line to the throne denied having ever met Virginia Roberts, the Jefferey Epstein victim who has accused Andrew of having sex with her when she was only 17. Andrew also failed to show any sympathy for Epstein’s victims or regret for his relationship with the deceased child sex offender.
Andrew walked his other daughter, Princess Eugenie, down the aisle when she wed James Brooksbank in Oct. 2018. Media was invited to Eugenie’s wedding with arrival and departure captured at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
No details surrounding Beatrice’s wedding have been released since their engagement announcement in September that said the couple would be married in 2020.
