Nine-year-old Nandi Bushell wants to be just like Ringo Starr.
On Monday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, Ellen brought out the young Ipswich, England, native to talk about her impressive drumming skills and her unlikely inspiration.
“On Saturdays and Sundays, [my family and I] make pancakes, and I listen to the Beatles, and I saw the drum kit and Ringo Starr,” she explained. “He just inspired me to play the drums because I love seeing him play the drums.”
Bushell, who has been playing drums since she was just four years old, also told Ellen why she screams while drumming.
“I can be free and I can just let everything out,” she said. “Then I get really tired, then I just lay down.”
However, not everyone is as big a fan of Bushell’s drumming as Ellen is.
“But your neighbours don’t like the screaming, do they?” Ellen asked.
“No,” Bushell responded. “They don’t like the drums, either.”
Perhaps the best part of Bushell’s appearance on the show, though, was her rocking out to Nirvana’s “In Bloom”. You can watch the full interview and performance up top.
