“I don’t think I’ve ever been nominated for a SAG Award before! I am so excited and so humbled to be recognized by my fellow actors out there,” she said. “You know, acting was my first love along with dancing and I just can’t believe all this is happening. To all the struggling actors out there, don’t give up… it could happen… it’s happening! Thank you so much, I feel like I already won. Thank you the SAG Awards, I’ll see you guys there!”

ET Canada has reached out to the nominees to find out how they’re feeling about the honour:

Cynthia Erivo, Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture nominee for “Harriet”: “Playing Harriet was an incredibly special time in my life. To be part of telling this hero’s story is nothing short of an honour, but to be recognized by my peers is overwhelming. I’m deeply grateful to SAG-AFTRA and for the kindness that’s been shown. In this moment, all I can think of is Harriet and the sacrifices she made so I and my fellow actors of colour would have the opportunity to do what we love.”
