Galecki will serve as an executive producer for “The Griswolds”, a series based on “National Lampoon’s Vacation”. The program is being developed for the HBO Max streaming service, according to Variety. Galecki has ties to the franchise, having starred in 1989’s “Christmas Vacation”.

Galecki is not the only talented worker on board. Tim Hobert (“Scrubs”, “The Middle”) will write and serve as a fellow executive producer.

The franchise began in 1983 and spawned four sequels: “European Vacation” (1985), “Christmas Vacation” (1989), “Vegas Vacation” (1997) and “Vacation” (2015).

HBO Max is set to launch in the U.S. in May. The service will not, however, launch in Canada. Instead, HBO Max programs will be available on Bell Media’s Crave TV.
