The tabloids have long linked Sophia Hutchins and Caitlyn Jenner, but the two never confirmed (or denied) their relationship status.
The C.E.O of a start-up beauty brand often posts pictures of herself lounging around Jenner’s home or out on the town with her.
While talking to The New York Times, Hutchins is finally setting things straight.
“We were never romantically involved,” Hutchins flatly said when asked by the publication.
When asked why they tabloids would pursue their relationship, Hutchins added, “Because we weren’t addressing it. I don’t feel a need to address my sex life, quite frankly, unless I want to.”
Hutchins first announced her transition in 2016 but seeing Jenner talk about her own experiences on “20/20” helped her overcome her struggles.
Hutchins hired a glam squad for her return to college, one of those members also worked for Jenner who introduced the two at a photoshoot knowing they would hit it off.
“We were introduced through my makeup artist at a M.A.C. photo shoot,” she added. “Having a similar sense of humour, we spent the entire time laughing and ended up meeting for brunch, and we’ve been great friends ever since.”
Hutchins became inspired by Kris Jenner and convinced the Olympian to let her manage her. “I saw nobody was managing her, and there were all these people taking massive advantage. And I was saying, ‘Caitlyn, if I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke.’”
From there, the two grew close and Hutchins eventually moved into Jenner’s home.
Jenner was asked for comment and provided this statement: “Over the last few years, Sophia has been my best friend, family and confidant. She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.”
