In South Korean culture, “sasaengs” are obsessed fans who don’t respect boundaries when it comes to the stars they love.
As one of K-pop’s biggest acts, BTS has had plenty of experience dealing with this particular breed of fandom, and group member V explained that sasaengs are the reason the group has been forced to charter private planes when they travel instead of buying tickets on commercial flights.

“We travel separately on a chartered plane,” V explained during a live chat Naver’s V Live, via Soompi.
“We also want to take a [regular] plane, but when we have long-distance or short-distance flights, some people find out in advance [which plane] we are taking and sit in the seats in front of us or next to us,” V continued.

“In a place like that, we can’t rest comfortably. It was very uncomfortable,” he added. “Honestly, I would like for them to stop doing that. It’s scary. Yes, it’s very scary.”
