Hugh Grant is confessing to some mistakes he has made in the past.

In an interview with Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, Grant admits that at one time he hated the idea of marriage and children.

“Well, I was just plain wrong. I was wrong. And children, you know, I used to roll my eyes. People would say, oh Hugh you don’t understand it, but they were right,” Grant said.

Last year, Grant married his longtime on-and-off girlfriend Anna Eberstein, but he admitted to Evans that marriage was something he was “putting off.”

“I’m not really a believer in marriage. I’ve seen very few good examples, maybe five, in my life, but I think otherwise it’s a recipe for mutual misery,” Grant told People in 2015.

Grant had his first child with Tinglan Hong in 2011. Grant and Eberstein welcomed their first child together in 2012, a boy named John. The two then split and Grant was re-united with Hong and the two welcomed their second child together.

Eberstein and Grant have since welcomed two other children, in 2015 and 2018, although the genders of those children have never been announced.

Evans’ full interview with Grant will air on Monday.
