After 25 years, Mariah Carey is truly dominating Christmas.
On Monday, Billboard announced that the song had finally hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 songs chart for the first time ever, becoming only the second holiday song to reach the top after “The Chipmunk Song”.
Originally released in 1994, the song quickly became a holiday classic, but it took until Dececember 2017 for it to reach the Top 10 on the Hot 100.
Last year, “All I Want for Christmas” managed to reach No. 3 during the holiday season.
The song has also proved to be genuinely infectious over the years.
On Sunday night, a New York subway passenger shared video from the platform after Carey’s concert at Madison Square garden.
While waiting for their trains, riders broke out in a spontaneous rendition of he singer’s classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.
