Jennifer Hudson gives fans a taste of “Cats”.
The Oscar-winning star sings her heart out in the film’s ballad “Memory.” The song is featured on the highlights soundtrack, which will be released on Dec. 20, the same day the film hits theatres.
Hudson plays Grizabella in the upcoming broadway film, following in the footsteps of Elaine Paige, Betty Buckley, Nicole Scherzinger and Leona Lewis who’ve previously portrayed the same role. The powerhouse singer made her broadway debut in The Colour Purple.
Francesca Hayward is also featured on the track as Victoria, a role that has grown to be a new emergence to the traditional Jellicle Ball. The film sees Victoria get her own song “Beautiful Ghosts”, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Taylor Swift. The song, which was recently nominated for a Golden Globe has been covered by Taylor Swift herself, who plays “Macavity” crooner Bombalurina in the film.
