Aaron Paul was never quite sure just how long Jesse Pinkman would last on “Breaking Bad”.

The star of Netflix’s “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” appeared on Monday’s episode of Global’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”. Paul told Colbert that his co-star Bryan Cranston would often tease him about Pinkman’s premature demise.

“The fifth or sixth episode, [his character Jesse] he was going to die from like a rival gang. At the end of the first season, Walt [Bryan] takes revenge and I did not know that,” Paul revealed. “Thank god they changed their mind.”

“Bryan would always toy around with me that I was going to die,” he continued. “I think he did know that I was supposed to die, but they just kept it a secret from me. Towards the end of the first season, [creator] Vince told me that was the plan and I couldn’t shake it until we were done shooting the show. I always thought I was going to die.”
