Norwegian author Ari Behn has died by suicide.
Behn was married to Princess Märtha Louise of Norway for 15 years, from 2002 to 2017. Behn is also one of many men to have accused “House of Cards” actor Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct.
“It’s with great sorrow in our hearts that we, those closest to Ari Behn, must report that he took his own life today,” Behn’s manager Geir Håkonsund said in a statement to Norwegian newspaper VG on Christmas Day. “We ask for respect for our private lives in the time to come.”
King Harald and Queen Sonja said Behn was “an important part of our family for many years, and we carry warm, fond memories of him,” according to The Independent. “We are grateful that we got to know him. We grieve that our grandchildren have now lost their beloved father — and have deep compassion for his parents and siblings, who have now lost their beloved son and brother.”
Behn, who was 47 at the time of his death, revealed in 2017 that Spacey allegedly groped him at a 2007 concert for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Behn is survived by his three children: Maud Angelica, 16, Leah Isadora, 14, and Emma Tallulah, 11.
