Female Led Films Including ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ And ‘Black Widow’ Dominate Fandango’s 2020 List Of Most Anticipated Movies

Fandango has released its list of the most anticipated films of 2020 and women are finally leading the way.

The first four movies on the list are not only led by women but are also directed by women. These include “Wonder Woman 1984”, “Black Widow”, Marvel’s “Eternals”, and “Mulan”.

The ticketing company surveyed 2,000 millennials who were on the site in December about which movies they are most looking forward to in 2020 and for the first time in over a decade, the top spots are dominated by female-directed films.

“As we head into the next decade, the new cinematic offerings look promising, with inspiring stories and new definitions of the word ‘hero,'” said Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak in a statement. “Adventure-seeking fans can’t wait for the kick-ass leads of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ ‘Black Widow,’ and ‘Mulan’ – all films directed by women – to command the big screen. And with invigorating, fresh fare like Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘In the Heights,’ Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ and Pixar’s ‘Soul,’ the 2020 box office will offer a cornucopia of welcome surprises.”

Alongside this list, Fandango also released results for the most anticipated actress, the most anticipated actor, the most anticipated villain, the most anticipated family film, the most anticipated horror film, and the most anticipated live-action comedy. Kristen Wiig who plays Cheetah in “Wonder Woman 1984” is 2020’s most anticipated villain.
