Imagine Dragons ranked highly on Billboard‘s Rock Songs of the Decade chart and some rock fans are not thrilled.
There is a community of rock fanatics that do not consider Imagine Dragons a rock band. That explains why some might be frustrated that the group took the top three spots on the Songs of the Decade chart.
Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds laughed off the negative feedback in a tweet published on Monday.
“[I] got on Twitter to find all the slander and all the love,” Reynolds wrote. “Thank you for the love and yea I’d probably be mad if it wasn’t my band but it is my band, ha ha ha ha ha ha.”
“In all seriousness, thank you so much. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to have spent the last decade writing this music and sharing it with you,” he continued. “It all comes from a real place and it always will. The world can debate what genre it belongs in. That’s not my concern”
Imagine Dragons topped the chart with “Believer”, “Thunder” and “Radioactive” in the top three spots respectively. Other top 10 contributors include Panic! at the Disco, The Lumineers, Walk the Moon, Twenty One Pilots, and Portugal. The Man.
