John Boyega is feeling the wrath of “Star Wars” fans after a joke he made about the film on social media apparently landed with a thud with some of his Twitter followers.

On New Year’s Eve, the 27-year-old actor issued a tweet featuring four photos of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) at odds in “The Rise of Skywalker” including one in which Rey is stabbing Kylo in the chest with his own lightsaber.

“Star Wars romance,” he quipped in the caption, mocking the relationship between the characters by adding a few evocative emojis.

As fans commented on his tweet, Boyega answered them, including clarifying that “Star Wars” is “not a documentary” to a fan who asked if he has “a crush” on Ridley.

Things took a contentious turn when one of Boyega’s followers (whose tweets have not been made public) apparently slammed him for criticizing Ridley’s character.

He continued to fire back at fans, telling one that “consenting adults can lay down whatever the hell they want ya sensitive!”

One Twitter user went so far as to accuse him of being a misogynist, to which Boyega offered the pithy reply, “And you’re an idiot.”

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Boyega went even further with some comments he left on Instagram about “laying pipe” in reference to Ridley’s character.

He was apparently unrepentant when he doubled down on the pipe-laying reference in a subsequent post.

While Boyega has insisted he’s simply joking about the characters in the film and not the actors who play them, TMZ points out that Boyega’s obligations to the “Star Wars” franchise have been fulfilled, so he has no worries of being fired over his comments.
