It was 20 years ago today that the world breathed a collective sigh of relief when the long-prophesied Y2K disaster did not materialize. Airplanes didn’t fall from the sky, computers didn’t seize up, the world banking system didn’t malfunction, and everything carried on as it had before.
However, it appears that two decades later Y2K is enacting its revenge on an unlikely victim: “WWE 2K20”, a recently released wrestling-themed video game that reportedly became inoperable ever since the calendar rolled over from 2019 to 2020.

One of the game’s users shared a video displaying the problem, with the game crashing and fading to black whenever anyone attempts to load it.
One clever user determined that the problem was indeed a Y2K-like bug in the game and developed a workaround by changing the system date back to Dec. 31, 2019.
The game’s manufacturer jumped into action, alerting gamers that they were on the case and were “currently investigating” while “working towards a solution.”
That solution came a few hours later, asking gamers to restart their systems and download the fix.
