Jason Aldean has nothing but love for his songwriters.
In a new behind-the-scenes video, the 42-year-old country star gives fans a look at the making of his new song “I Don’t Drink Anymore”, featured on his ninth studio album, 9.
Aldean explains his love for the song written by Kelley Lovelace, CJ Solar, and Neil Thrasher in the 30-second clip.
“Obviously, Neil is a great writer, and the way he phrases things is really good,” says Aldean. “So I started listening to the song, and kind of getting into it. And I’m like, ’All right. I get where we’re going here, this is cool.’
“When it got to the hook that’s like, ’I don’t drink anymore but I don’t drink any less,’ I was like, ’Man, that is really good.’ I’m stoked about that one. I think people are gonna dig it.”
9 sees Aldean joining forces with several more of country music’s top songwriters, including Josh Thompson, Jordan Schmidt, Brad Warren, Brett Warren, Ben Hayslip, and Rhett Akins. Other songwriters include fellow country stars Morgan Wallen, Brantley Gilbert, and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard.
Fans can listen to the song below, which joins other booze-inspired tracks like “Champagne Town”, “Came Here to Drink”, “Blame It on You”, and the album’s first single “We Back”, among others.
9 is available now and fans can catch Aldean on the road for his “We Back” tour, kicking off Jan. 30, in Columbia, South Carolina.
