Music producer David Foster has revealed he was the one who arranged for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay in a $14-million mansion on Vancouver Island over Christmas.

Foster, 70, is married to Katharine McPhee, 35, who went to school with Meghan in Los Angeles.

Meghan and Harry spent baby Archie’s first Christmas at the luxurious waterfront home in North Saanich. However, Foster declined to reveal who the mansion belonged to.

He told the Daily Mail, “I felt honoured that I was able to help Meghan there, because I’m a Canadian and we’re a commonwealth country, we’re the Crown’s.

“It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment.”

He continued, “The owner has allowed this to happen through me, and I was happy to facilitate. I don’t know what their next plans are but I know that it was reinvigorating for them spend some downtime.”

Foster, who was born on Vancouver Island himself, insisted he wasn’t sure if the royals had been paying rent while they were there.

The producer, who has worked with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, and more over the years, added: “This is a great testament to my hometown of Victoria that they were able to go under the radar for so long.”
