Nearly five decades in the business and Tanya Tucker is still going strong.
The country star is nominated for four Grammys, and this weekend she is appearing on “CBS Sunday Morning” to talk about her career relaunch.
“It wasn’t something that I had really planned out, and it really just kind of happened,” Tucker admits.
Now 61, Tucker has had big hits, but also plenty of lows, including troubles with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as a volatile relationship with Glen Campbell.
Asked whether the tabloid coverage of her difficulties impacted her career at all, the singer says, “You know, it could have.”
She goes on, “But in kind of a funny, back-a**wards way. I feel like they’re – those mistakes are part of my success. To be able to go through those things and come out on the other side, I think, is success. I don’t think you could be successful unless you’ve had a lot of failures, and I’ve had some.”
“CBS Sunday Morning” airs on Sundays at 9 a.m ET.
