Laura Dern and Nicole Kidman ran into each other on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday evening. The “Big Little Lies” co-stars were being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest when they were suddenly interrupted by Kidman’s husband Keith Urban and Paul Rudd.
“We’re so lucky to work together and to love each other and to be able to create together,” Kidman told Seacrest.
“To have known each other for so many years, and our paths crossed years and years ago, and we were both in places that were probably not our high points, and then too, I was down there, watching you stand up here,” said Kidman, fangirling about how “beautiful” it’s been for her to watch Dern’s career skyrocket.
“This is my beacon, right here,” Dern said about Kidman.
“She’s always so nice,” agreed Seacrest, whom then asked Kidman, “Where’s your husband, where’s my friend, my buddy?”
Coincidentally, Urban immediately appeared and wished the red carpet host a happy new year. But he wasn’t alone- Paul Rudd also joined to crash the party. The group turned towards Rudd and he said, “Guys, here we are together again.”
“The cast of ‘Big Little Lies,’” Dern joked in response.
“Hey, how much fun did we have on that?” Rudd asked his co-stars and then said, “I look a lot like Adam Scott in that show, everybody tells me.”
The female stars of “Big Little Lies” are known for being close and openly talking about their tight bond.
“I’m so glad the show has found its way because there really is nothing on TV with six female leads,” said Kidman in a previous interview in regards to the show’s dominant female cast, which also stars Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz.
The “Big Little Lies” co-stars are each nominated for a Golden Globe. Kidman is up for best actress in a television series drama for her performance in the HBO series, while Dern is nominated for best supporting actress in a motion picture for her role in “Marriage Story.” Rudd is also nominated for best actor in a television series – comedy or musical for his part in “Living with Yourself.”
