“Fleabag” won Best Comedy Series at the awards show, and creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge went up to deliver the acceptance speech, with a special shoutout at the end to Barack Obama, who put the show on his Favourite TV of 2019 list.
“Personally I would like to also thank Obama for putting us on his list,” she said, adding, “As some of you may know, he’s always been on mine.”
Waller-Bridge was referencing the fact that in Season 1 of “Fleabag”, her character pleasures herself to pictures of the former U.S. president.
