Golden Globes Viewers Forgot Renée Zellweger Has A Southern Accent

It seems it has been a while since fans heard from the real Renée Zellweger.

The “Judy” actress accepted a Best Actress award at Sunday’s Golden Globes for her titular role as Judy Garland. Zellweger took to the podium and her southern drawl caught some viewers off guard.

“Has Renée Zellweger always had a southern accent? Where have I been? Well her dress is gorgeous,” wrote one user. Another tweeted, “I was today years old when I found out Renee Zellweger had a thick country accent.”

“Is Renee Zellweger like Christian Bale in that we always forget what she sounds like or is she doing an accent??” a different Twitter user asked.

In fact, up until this moment, some fans thought her British accent in “Bridget Jones” was native to her.

“Judy” premiered in theatres on Sept. 27 and Zellweger has received universal acclaim for her take on the iconic Garland.
