There will be no fashion surprises from Joaquin Phoenix on the red carpet any time soon.
Stella McCartney, who designed the “Joker” star’s black tuxedo for the Golden Globes this past Sunday, revealed in an Instagram post that the Best Actor winner will continue wearing the same suit throughout awards season.
The designer explained that Phoenix has chosen the move in order “to reduce waste.”

According to Stella McCartney’s website, the brand is committed to “sustainability,” explaining, “By taking this stance, we are proving it is possible to create beautiful, luxurious products that are better for everyone — animals, people, and the environment.”
Phoenix has also been a strong advocate for sustainable living, climate action, animal rights, and more.
In his speech accepting the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, the 35-year-old called on Hollywood to do better on climate change.
“We don’t have to take private jets to Palm Springs,” he said, “and I’ll try to do better, and I hope you will too.”
