Megyn Kelly Mocks Joaquin Phoenix For Re-Wearing Tuxedo To Battle Climate Change

Megyn Kelly thinks Joaquin Phoenix’s latest attempt at battling climate change is an empty gesture.

Designer Stella McCartney announced on social media that Phoenix would be wearing the same tuxedo at every awards ceremony this season. This, according to McCartney, was one way Phoenix was bringing attention to “reduce, reuse, recycle.” PETA also applauded the “Joker” star for his fashion statement.

“This man is a winner,” McCartney wrote. “Wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet and all of its creatures. He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud and honoured to join forces with you Joaquin, keep inspiring and keep shining your light.”

One person who had no praise for Phoenix was Kelly. The former “Today” host thought it was silly to paint Phoenix as a climate change hero for simply wearing fewer tuxedos.

“How out of touch are these people? Oh, the sacrifice! Just ONE tuxedo! Spare us,” she wrote. Journalist Emily Zanotti replied, “I’m going to re-wear my Stella McCartney jeans (that I got secondhand for $35) today, just to feel like a climate change hero.”

Phoenix is a long-time supporter of animal rights advocacy groups and made a speech about environmental awareness at the Golden Globes.
