Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) wells up in the latest episode of “Vikings”, titled “Ice Maiden”.

Bjorn arrives home to Kattegat just in time to attend the funeral of Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). The famous shieldmaiden is the latest victim of Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø).

The episode will firmly focus on Lagertha, one of the few remaining “Vikings” characters to make it six seasons deep.

“It’s a true honour to see what has been written for Lagertha’s farewell,” Winnick told ET Canada. “Lagertha, for me, is so dear to my heart. I feel that she is a part of me and there is nothing that has been more empowering and beautiful to know that she has had such an impact.”

In a separate interview, Winnick also touched on the trippy experience of attending her own funeral.

“To see a prosthetic me lying there on the boat and all these hundreds of actors who are mourning over Lagertha, it was just so surreal,” Winnick told TV Guide. “I felt like I was watching my own funeral.”

“I actually had to leave,” she admitted. “It was too emotionally hard for me to stay for that. So it was definitely something that I’ll always remember and cherish.”

“They’re going to be heartbroken and they’re going to respond the same way they did to Travis [Fimmel],” Ludwig said of Lagertha’s death. “They’re going to be furious and they’re never going to watch the show again. I don’t blame them for a second. I think that’s great.”

Season 6 of “Vikings” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HISTORY Canada.
