If you want a real adrenalin rush, Olivia Wilde would recommend directing.
“If you had asked me this a few years ago, I would have said, ‘Oh, I’ve been skydiving. I have tattoos. I’m ballsy.’ But hands down, directing a movie is the most bada** thing I’ve ever done because it is the scariest thing I’ve done,” she admits.
“It forced me to tap into my inner strength, and you know what?” Wilde asks. “That may be the most bada** thing of all.”
Wilde received critical acclaim for her directorial debut at the helm of “Booksmart”. Thankfully, she received wise words along the way.
“Steven Spielberg has said that as a director, you must never let an actor see your fear,” Wilde shares. “And I actually think that allows you to manifest confidence.”
Wilde and her partner Jason Sudeikis did not go to college. The actress is already prepared to have that conversation with her kids one day.
“I remember meeting Scarlett Johansson at a party when we were 16,” she recalls. “She was already making movies, and I was like, ‘Ugh, I’m so behind.’ So, I leaped into work.”
“We’re already prepared for our kids to say they don’t want to go,” she concludes. “I’ll carry my own baggage into that conversation when I encourage them to go.”
