Last month, Laura Dern sparked some very weird rumours when she claimed to have run into Baby Yoda at an NBA game, and she addressed those rumours during her Friday appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.

As host Stephen Colbert reminded, Dern was on the red carpet at the Gotham Awards and said she saw the adorable character from “The Mandalorian” at a basketball game. “People weren’t sure what to make of it,” Colbert noted, asking her point blank: “Did you see Baby Yoda at a basketball game?”

“I’m just going to say this, because we’ve been in this business for a long time now,” Dern replied. “There can be a frenzy when people are friends or have some kind of relationship and people want to wonder, you know?”

She continued: “I mean, as a baby, he’s a 50-year-old baby. So it’s not inappropriate. And I said to my friends, I said the next man I’m going to be with, I want him to be incredibly wise… I don’t mind being the taller one.”

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
