Prince Harry’s friend from his time in the military understands where the Duke is coming from.
After the news broke that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer want to be “senior” members of the Royal Family and will be “financially independent”, JJ Chalmers has said that Harry’s family is his first priority.
“He is no longer the captain in the army, he is more the father. When I see him it is ‘how’s the kids’ that is the first thing that comes up,” Chalmers told BBC’s “The One Show”.

“When you look at the decision that he has made at the forefront of that is to protect his family,” he added. “That’s the number one role. To be a husband and to be a father.”

“He is a very principled individual. When he looks at how the media acts and how social media talks about someone. He has to answer to his son one day when he begins to understand this and needs to be able to look him in the face and say ‘I made the right decision and did right by you.’ And ultimately, he grew up in the limelight and he knows how this can end if it is not handled correctly.”
