Rob Lowe Reveals How He Found Liza Minnelli’s Hotel Room At Age 10 And Told Her About His Acting Dreams

Rob Lowe told Kelly Clarkson an incredible story about Liza Minnelli during an appearance on Kelly’s show Monday.

Lowe revealed how he was “10 years old, wanting to be a child actor and living in Dayton, Ohio.”

He shared, “There is nothing happening, and it’s the mid ’70s,” adding that he spotted a luggage tag with Minnelli’s name sitting in the lobby of a hotel.

“I go to the front desk and I ask, ‘What room is Liza Minnelli in?’ And they tell me! What were they thinking? I was a 10-year-old boy!

“I just flat-out asked, and I went up and knocked on the door in the middle of the day.”

The actor revealed how she answered the door in a robe, and she was eating chocolate and drinking red wine in the middle of the day with her then-husband Jack Haley Jr.

He explained how he said, “Hi, I’m Rob Lowe and I want to be an actor,” before joking he was probably interrupting something: “She was awesome. She invited me into the room. She was so nice to me, and Liza was fascinated and wanted to know why I wanted to be an actor. She was awesome!”
