James Blunt just dropped the heartbreaking new music video for his latest single “Monsters”.
Blunt, who shot to fame with “You’re Beautiful” back in 2004, breaks down in tears in the emotional clip as he sings about his father, Charles Blount, who is battling stage 4 chronic kidney disease.
Lyrics to the song include, “I’m not your son. You’re not my father… We’re just two grown men saying goodbye.
“No need to forgive. No need to forget. I know your mistakes and you know mine. And while you’re sleeping, I’ll try to make you proud.”
“So daddy, won’t you close your eyes. Don’t be afraid. It’s my turn to chase the monsters away.”
The video focuses on Blunt’s face as he sobs while belting out the lyrics. He’s then joined by his dad.
