Louis Tomlinson might not talk to his former One Direction bandmates everyday, but he still has a lot of love for his pals.
While chatting with Cosmopolitan, the singer opened up about his time in the band and not picking favourites.
“I think all the boys would agree with this. There’s been moments in all of our lives where naturally some of us speak to others more than others,” he explained, referring to Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. “I wouldn’t say I’m closest to any of the boys.”
To add clarity, Tomlinson added, “Recently, I’ve probably spoken to Liam 10 times as much as I spoke to the other lads. Six months ago, that was Niall.”
But for Tomlinson, it feels good to stand on his own. Especially with his debut solo album, Walls, gearing up for release.
“I’ve got to stand on my own two feet and say, ‘This is my identity. This is who I am as an artist,'” he said.
Walls is set to debut on Jan. 31.
