Wendy Williams has found herself in hot water after making insensitive remarks about Joaquin Phoenix.
During the taping of her Jan. 7 episode of her daytime talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show”, the host, 55, discussed the 2020 Oscar nominations, including Phoenix, who is nominated for his work in “Joker”.
While mentioning his “piercing eyes,” after his win at the Golden Globes the previous weekend, she said, “When he shaves off his moustache he’s got a hairline fracture.”
Adding, “He’s got one of those — what do you call it? Cleft lip, cleft palate.”
She then hooked her finger in her lip to imitate the common birth defect. A cleft lip or cleft palate occurs when a baby’s lips or mouth do not form properly.
While Phoenix has never addressed the scar on his lip, fans of the decorated actor were not happy with Williams’ comments.
Williams has since apologized for her remarks, referencing Candian Football linebacker Adam Bighill whose son has needed surgery to get his lip repaired.
However, Cher was having none of it.
