It’s not Corey Hart’s first rodeo on his latest single.
The Canadian music icon teamed up with fellow Canuck Jim Cuddy on the countrified song “First Rodeo”.
“The song ‘First Rodeo’ is reflecting back upon my music career and reconciling how you really gotta walk the million miles to finally appreciate the beast and the beauty of it all. You can’t sing about the ride until you’ve been through it,” Hart said in a statement. “Nothing so good that it can’t be broken – nothin’ so bad that you can’t fix it up.”
The song was released along with a new animated music video, bringing the lyrics to life with drawings by artists Josh Raskin and Justin Broadbent.
Cuddy said of the song, “Working with Corey and Bob Ezrin was a blast. Corey’s enthusiasm and Bob’s precise direction were invaluable. You really know how good a singer is when you record with them and Corey is a superb singer. And then to know it was all started by a fan, [Jacki Andre], makes it even more unique.”
Andre, the self-described superfan, discussed her role in bringing the two Canadian artists together, saying, “I have been a diehard fan of both artists since the ’80s and over the last few years I started off an epic tease fest through social media, who is actually my number 1 guy? Jim or Corey? Maybe Jim and Corey could tie for No. 1 or better yet even do a song together, which would be a dream come true!”
