Last year, Helen Mirren starred in HBO miniseries “Catherine the Great”, dramatizing the life of the famed Russian monarch.
Following in that Golden Globe nominated project’s regal footsteps comes Hulu’s “The Great”, offering a very different take on the same historical figure.
Elle Fanning (“Maleficent”) plays Catherine in the upcoming series, a satirical blend of comedy and drama described as a “genre-bending, anti-historical ride through 18th-century Russia and follows the wildly comedic rise of Catherine the Nothing to Catherine the Great.”
In addition to Fanning, “The Great” also stars Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”), Phoebe Fox (“Curfew”), Adam Godley (“Lodge 49”), Gwilym Lee (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), Charity Wakefield (“The Player”), Douglas Hodge (“Lost in Space”) and Sacha Shawan (“Marvel’s Iron Fist”).
“The Great” will debut on May 15.
