As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle move their little family of three to Canada, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is standing strong supporting her only daughter.

Ragland spent time with her grandson, Archie, and the rest of the family at the North Saanich home on Vancouver Island over Christmas and gushed to a friend that her “grandson is the cutest” a source tells People.

The source added that Ragland “says Meghan is strong and will always be okay” – a trait that she gets from her mother.

It comes as no surprise how close Meghan is to her mother, who even stepped in during the wedding to walk her part way down the aisle when Thomas Markle could not show up due to a heart attack. Ragland was also there in the weeks following Archie’s birth to help the new parents adjust to parenthood.

“She and Meghan are so close,” an insider had previously told the publication. “Harry really gets on well with her too. Any new mom wants her own mom around at this time, so it’s great.”

While the news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were stepping aside came as a surprise to the public, the couple knew their plans for some time.

A palace source told People that after Archie’s birth in May 2019 “they knew they were going to hit the nuclear button.”

ET Canada has also learned that the Duchess never moved her wardrobe to London back in November 2017.
