Most people would be thrilled to be featured on a Coldplay track but lead singer Chris Martin said he “forced” his kids to join on “Orphans”.

While speaking with, Martin joked that his children Apple, 15, and Moses, 13 did not want to be featured on the song.

“Well, we’ve always kind of forced our children to work,” Martin teased while referring to his kids he shares with ex-Gwyneth Paltrow. “We really appreciate the Victorian times of young British children getting an honest day’s pay. Whenever we’re on tour, any of the kids that are around, we’ll drag them on stage for something or other.”

After he finished joking, Martin revealed that Apple, Moses and the other 11 backup singers were “properly” paid for their work.

“They’re so sweet about it,” Martin added. “Of course I’m biased, but I really like listening to them. So to me, they made the song sound great.”
