The long-awaited reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in “Bad Boys for Live” proved to be just what moviegoers were looking for, easily crushing the competition at the box office in its debut weekend.
According to Box Office Mojo, the third entry in the “Bad Boys” franchise raked in $59 million at the domestic box office, and is expected to top $68 million by the end of the Martin Luther Kind Day holiday weekend in the U.S.
This, reports Variety, wildly exceeded expectations, with “Bad Boys for Life” predicted to have a debut in the $38-$45 million range. In addition, the film has also brought in an additional $38.6 million internationally, with a worldwide total of $106.7 million.

Landing in a distant second, the Robert Downey Jr.-starring “Dolittle” hit theatres with a thud, earning just $22.5 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend.
Rounding out the top five at the North American box office are: “1917” in third place with $22 million in its fourth week and a domestic total to date of $76.7 million; “Jumanji: The Next Level” in fourth, contributing $9.6 million to a six-week total of $270.4 million; and, in fifth place, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” with $8.4 million in its fifth week, for a domestic total of $492 million.
