Brooks Laich is focusing on a new “pleasure first” approach to life amid marriage trouble rumours with wife Julianne Hough.
The NHL star opened up about not feeling “100 per cent fully expressed” in his true sexuality on his podcast, “How Men Think”, Monday with special guest Gavin DeGraw.
Rumours began circling about a potential split between Laich and the “Dancing With The Stars” alum earlier this month when multiple sources told People magazine that the couple have hit a rough patch in their marriage and “have been having problems for months.”
Laich, 36, and Hough, 31, tied the knot in 2017.
“One of my goals this year is to really explore, like, learning about sexuality,” Laich said.
“People think that sexuality is just the act of sex, of just having sex, and there’s so much more to it. Here’s a question. This is an honest question for everybody in this room, and every single person listening: Are you fully 100 per cent fully expressed in your true sexuality? With your partner? With everything? You could not imagine having a better sex life? Are you truly there?” he continued. “I’m not, either. So that’s what one of my goals this year is to really dive into. So then we’re all essentially, that’s a state of suffering.”
Laich later mentioned his wife while explaining, “We’re not 10s of 10s. It doesn’t mean you’re the best performer. It just means, ‘Are you fully expressed?’ Do you even know who you are sexually? And I truly, to my core, do not. But I’m super excited about that journey to really learn about sexuality and also get better at the performance of it, but also just the understanding of who I am, who my wife is, that sort of dance.”
The Canadian hockey star made similar comments at the beginning of 2020 on Instagram, explaining how he’s “always working on becoming a better man.”
In his Instagram Story at the time, he added that he also “wants to learn more about intimacy and my sexuality.”
Neither Hough nor Laich has commented on the rumours.
