Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin dished all about their Fire Drill Friday arrests.
The “Grace And Frankie” co-stars joined forces on Monday night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and chatted about the weekly climate change protests kickstarted by Fonda, and the new season of the hit Netflix series.
“We are facing a climate crisis,” Fonda began. “We have 10 years to try to avoid a tipping point… maybe less. Beyond which it will be a real catastrophe. All the scientists agree.”
“You have to get arrested several times [to go to jail]. You get arrested three times and then you’re given a court date,” she later explained of her numerous arrests over the past few months. “If you get arrested again you’re kept overnight, which I was but you know, I’m white and famous, so I was put in a cell by myself. This time around I was by myself with the cockroaches.”
Tomlin was arrested once during a protest in December.
Joaquin Phoenix, Sally Field, Sam Waterston, Ted Danson, Diane Lane, Piper Perabo, Rosanna Arquette, Gloria Steinem, Casey Wilson and 11-year-old actor Iain Armitage have all been arrested during Fire Drill Fridays.
