After Wendy Williams revealed NeNe Leakes was getting ready to quit “Real Housewives Of Atlanta”, the reality TV star is speaking out, telling media she spoke to Williams in confidence.

On Tuesday during an interview with “Housewives” superfan Jerry O’Connell, Williams claimed she got a text from her friend NeNe Leakes, which said, “I’m quitting.”

“I took a break in-between commercials. I had to go to the bathroom, so I looked at my phone in between commercials and NeNe texts, ‘I’m quitting,'”  Williams announced on her show. “9:08 this morning. I’m surprised I got it because I have no service in my office but I got it.”

The talk show host teased Leakes was carrying a big secret.

“I know something about NeNe that you all will cry, be sad, feel bad for her,” Williams added. “She’s carrying the weight of a huge thing on her shoulders.”

Leakes’ camp quickly responded to Williams’ announcement.

“It’s been an especially difficult couple of weeks for NeNe, and she was venting to her friend in private correspondence. Nothing has been confirmed or officially decided for next season,” a rep tells ET Canada about Williams’ claim.

Leakes also took to Instagram to seemingly address the situation, captioning her latest post, “WHO SAID DAT!?!?! #SMH.”

Leake’s husband, Gregg, has been battling cancer but Williams told O’Connell, “Gregg is not sick.”

Pressing more for details, Williams told O’Connell, “I am misty. I can’t even tell you behind the scenes.”

“But if she keeps carrying this burden, you know what I’m saying, you know how you carry a secret long enough …NeNe, you need that platform to explain, that’s all,” she added, begging Leakes to stay on the show. “I’m telling you, NeNe, don’t quit! I can’t believe I’ve come to this.”

Leakes cut back on her “RHOA” appearances in season 8, skipped season 9, but returned as a full-time Housewife for the 10th season.
