Ten years after Suzanne Collins released the last novel in The Hunger Games trilogy, the author announced a new prequel series, all about the villainous President Snow.
After announcing The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, lovers of both the books and movies rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts and they’re not impressed. The new novel takes place 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games.
In the new book, Coriolanus Snow, a.k.a. President Snow, is friendly, charming and the hero of this story. Very far from the man fans knew and hated in the trilogy.
Donald Sutherland portrayed the evil leader of Panem in the hit movies starring Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), Liam Hemsworth, (Gale Hawthorne) and Josh Hutchinson (Peta Mellark).
“You’re telling me I waited YEARS for a new Hunger Games book just for it to be a president snow origin story,” one fan wrote to Twitter.
Another added, “Suzanne Collins really made us watch as President Snow killed off some of our favourite characters in the Hunger Games series and expect me to now read the back story of a man who I’m glad is dead.”
