Eminem has released a statement following the controversy surrounding his latest album Music to Be Murdered By.

The rapper was criticized for referencing Salman Ramadan Abedi, the suicide bomber who killed 22 people at Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert in 2017, in the track “Unaccommodating”.

Eminem then posted on social media Thursday, “This album was not made for the squeamish. If you are easily offended or unnerved at the screams of bloody murder, this may not be the collection for you.”

His message also included, “Certain selections have been designed to shock the conscience, which may cause positive action. Unfortunately, darkness has truly fallen upon us.

“For the victims of this album, may you rest peacefully. For the rest of you, please listen more closely next time. Goodnight!”

Eminem also references gun control and the recent mass shootings in the U.S. in his track “Darkness”.

The LP features collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Skylar Grey, Anderson .Paak, and the late Juice WRLD.
