Jon Stewart is getting political with his latest movie.
On Thursday, the former “Daily Show” host surprised the audience on Global’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, climbing out from under the host’s desk to debut the trailer for “Irresistible”, the new political satire he wrote and directed.
Steve Carell stars in the film as a Democratic Party political consultant who goes to small-town Wisconsin to help a retired ex-Marine played by Chris Cooper run for mayor in an effort to win back the country’s heartland.
The cast also includes Rose Byrne as a rival Republican consultant, Topher Grace, Natasha Lyonne, Mackenzie Davis, CJ Wilson, and Will Sasso.
Stewart previously wrote and directed the 2014 drama “Rosewater”, starring Gael García Bernal.
“Irresistible” hits theatres May 29.
