The Duke of Cambridge has an important new role.
His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, has made Prince William the new Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. This means that William will represent the Queen at a variety of events related to the Church of Scotland.
The father of three takes on the role from Richard Scott, the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry. Before Scott, Princess Anne held the position.
While drama has been surrounding part of the royal family as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make their exit, for everyone else it is business as usual.
The Queen made it known that Harry and Meghan’s announcement should not affect other royal engagements which includes William and Kate Middleton’s hosting duties at Buckingham Palace for the U.K.-Africa Investment Summit as well as the upcoming BAFTA Awards on Feb. 2.
