Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the “Doctor Who” episode “Fugitive of the Judoon”.
“Doctor Who” bosses have cast the show’s first ever black Doctor.
History was made during Sunday’s episode, “Fugitive of the Judoon”, as it was revealed that Jo Martin would be playing the first black incarnation of the character.
Martin took on the role of a tour guide named Ruth Clayton in the latest instalment. However, it was eventually confirmed she wasn’t a tour guide at all and was instead revealed as a previously unknown incarnation of the time-travelling favourite.
The current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, was announced as the first female incarnation of the character back in July 2017.
Martin will not be replacing Whittaker, but it’s not yet known where her incarnation will sit in the “Doctor Who” timeline.
