Jessica Simpson is joining other stars in paying tribute to NBA star Kobe Bryant.
On Sunday morning, the retired Los Angeles Lakers player passed away following a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas that also claimed the life of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and seven other people.
In a touching tribute on Monday, Simpson shared a photo to Instagram that her husband Eric Johnson took from their backyard, which overlooks the hillside where the accident took place.
“Eric took this photo from our backyard right after the accident happened where Kobe, his daughter, and other beautiful souls were lifted up to be with God for eternity,” she captioned the image, which showed rolling green hills and beams of sunlight peering through the clouds. “We could see the emergency helicopters flying over our house and I felt the loss.”
Revealing the spiritual moment she had, Simpson added, “I felt the power in the sky of the heavens parting to make room for the greatest of angels to rise.”

Simpson ended her tribute by recognizing Kobe’s wife Vanessa Bryant for being “the woman and wife that championed” her husband to “greatness.”
