Dwayne Johnson’s Heroic New Show

By Kate Morawetz.

Airing tonight on Slice, Dwayne “The Rock’ Johnson is stepping outside of the acting world to find heroes amongst everyday people in his new reality series, The Hero.

We were lucky enough to chat with the wrestler-turned-actor-turned-reality-tv-host to find out who his personal heroes are and what his new show is all about. “The Hero is taking ordinary people and putting them in positions where they get to do something special,”; Dwayne told us adding, “and what I mean by “special’ is they get to become better.”;

Even though Dwayne says that the contestants “become better”; it’s apparent that in some cases “better”; won’t cut it.  Contestants dive head first into a life changing adventure and to become the Hero in this story, you have to be the best!

“America meet Lydia Callins. She has overcome impossible odds in her life. Beautiful & bringin’ it since birth.”; – Dwayne “The Rock”; Johnson Facebook

What does Dwayne think of the contestants? “All walks of life, all ages, all colours doing some pretty unique extraordinary things by way of physical challenges,”; he says.  But it’s not all physical, the Hero hopefuls also face mental and moral challenges throughout the show.

It’s hard to think of a man that big needing a hero, but he tells us about the hero that’s closest to his heart. “Of course my mom is my hero,”; the Pain & Gain star says, “and my high school coach.”;
