Having gone through her own battle with postpartum depression and losing a son to suicide, Marie Osmond says her thoughts are with Paris Jackson as she goes through this difficult time.
ET Canada caught up with Marie at the Critics Choice Awards in Beverly Hills on Monday. “I’ve lost a child and so my heart is there for her and her family,” reveals the talk show host. “If I could, I would hug her and talk to her. I would love to spend an hour with her – maybe I could relate with her on a level that some people couldn’t, but I know she has great support.”
Meanwhile, it looks as though Paris could be released from the hospital by Friday and reports say the 15-year-old is hoping to be able to attend her cousin’s wedding on Sunday.
As for where the late King of Pop’s daughter will live, there are conflicting reports on whether she’ll live with Katherine Jackson or whether her birth mother Debbie Rowe could try to get custody.
Marie’s thoughts on the matter? She tells us she thinks the mother and daughter bond might be in the best interest of Paris. “It’s hard. I look at Katherine, Katherine’s 80 and maybe it would be good for her to spend some time with her biological mother,” admits Marie. “She’s lost her father… she was isolated and then went straight into public school. Those are things that are not easy for children, I know – I’ve been there.”
