It’s not common for rappers to open up about the lack of sex in their lives, but this is no ordinary artist, it’s Drake! He wears his heart on his sleeve and addresses his own faults on many of his songs. And in July’s GQ, the 26-year-old lays it all out there, from his beef with Chris Brown, to his love life – or lack thereof.
“You know the way fighters don’t f–k before the fight? Sometimes I feel like I’m so focused on training my body and getting my mind right to create this album that sex isn’t one of my main priorities,”; he reveals. “If someone is around that I know and trust, I’m down. But I’m not going to end up with some stranger at this party.”;
The interview with the mag paints Drizzy, who’s currently working on his third album Nothing Was the Same, as a sort of Gatsby… someone who stands back while the party goes on around him and pines for something more.
But in Drake’s case he is more focused on the charts, than affairs of the heart. “I’ve made a lot of music about love being the only thing missing from my life – maybe this is my time to grind it out, to make a run for it and make some memories with my boys.”; And after a conversation with Will Smith, he seems doubtful he even knows what love is: “He said, “love is when you become one and need that person’. Hearing that, I don’t know if I’ve ever felt that way.”;
Speaking of relationships, Drake also addresses his feud with Chris Brown over Rihanna. “I don’t want my name to be synonymous with that guy’s,”; he explains. “I wish we could sit down and talk it out man-to-man, but that’s not going to happen… if I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot. Like I get a feeling it could end really badly – like, it gets really dark.”;
